Dusting Off This Quilt Project

I've been getting a bit ahead of myself. It's so easy to get caught up in a new thing - a new idea. I love dreaming up projects, which doesn't mean I've fallen out of love with previous project ideas.

So before I cut into these luscious new fabrics I've got, I must first finish the vintage handkerchief quilt I was working on last year. So, this past week, I finished appliqueing on another square. You might notice the coloured basting stitches around the perimeter of the inside of the hankie. Those will come out after I have all the hankies appliqued.

I still love this project and I look forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Here are the squares laid out in a possible arrangement. I would welcome any suggestions for a border ... or no border. Should I lay them out like this or should I put sashing between? What should I use for a backing fabric? Decisions. Decisions. I'll hand quilt this one. Vintage handkerchiefs demand it, I think.

  1. Nice! Where did you get the vintage handkerchiefs from? How many do you have? I don't know what but I think you need a border and some sashing in between. That would be my opinion but you need to ask the one who will be using the quilt :)
